Community Awareness Program – Unseen Wounds: Understanding and Supporting Parents with PTSD

FamAlly Hub was proud to collaborate with the Centre for Occupational Therapy Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, UiTM Selangor Branch Puncak Alam Campus, for a community awareness program titled Unseen Wounds: Understanding and Supporting Parents with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), held on Monday, 16 June 2025 at FamAlly Hub, Cyberview Gardens, Cyberjaya.

This program addressed the rising mental health challenges among parents, highlighting the often unseen impacts of stress and trauma on parenting. Our clinical psychologists were invited as guest speakers, sharing their expertise on PTSD, its symptoms, and how it affects family dynamics. The session also explored collaborative approaches between psychologists and occupational therapists to support parents effectively.

The event featured:

  • Raising awareness about emotional struggles parents face
  • Understanding how trauma and stress influence parenting
  • Practical strategies for managing stress and improving daily life
  • Group discussions to foster community dialogue

Participants also received e-certificates, meals, and the chance to engage directly in meaningful conversations with mental health professionals. The program was limited to 20 participants to ensure an intimate and interactive experience.

FamAlly Hub is honoured to contribute to initiatives that shed light on the unseen wounds carried by many parents and to support the community in building stronger emotional well-being.
